Before moving to Australia in 1996 to study English, I was an elementary and junior high school teacher in Japan for five years. I realized that I had truly enjoyed those years spent working and playing with children.

After language school in Manly, I studied business in Sydney, where I met my husband. We were married in Sydney and had two children, who were four and two years old when we returned to Japan.

Once we moved to Japan, my son was no longer interested in speaking English. I really wanted to think of ways to help my children continue to enjoy learning English because I knew that speaking English had helped my husband and I follow our dreams.

One day, when I was watching TV with my daughter, there was a popular American singer named Eric on TV. His English songs are very nice and are easy to remember--so it occured to me that this could be a wonderful way for my children to learn English.

This led to my goal of organising a concert by Eric in my hometown. This turned out to be a huge challenge and an opportunity to show my children that they can be successful with reaching even difficult goals, especially if their goal leads to making the world a happier place.

At the concert I could see the smiles on many children’s faces, so my next goal was to arrange for an even larger concert (1000 people) by Eric.

Often I say to my children: “You can, if you believe you can!” I wanted to prove my these words are true, so along with a great staff and many friends working together, we didn't give up until we had 1000 customers.

I learned so much from organising this concert, which left me wondering whether there were similar things I could do next. One day one of my friends told me, “Kids love magic so you can do a magic show in English!

I was clumsy and had never had an interest in doing magic on my own but I thought it would be a great challenge for me. This is why I started Okachiri magic-out of a desire to help children enjoy learning English.

Now we have returned to Australia, having moved to Sydney. Through the joy of magic, I am here to deliver excitement and smiles to you and your children.
